Urinary Incontinence

Stress urinary incontinence

Stress urinary incontinence is a condition characterised by leaking urine during ‘effort’ or activity. Some of the activities which often can provoke leaking in women with this condition include:

  • coughing
  • sneezing
  • lifting
  • laughing
  • running
  • skipping or jumping
The causes of stress urinary incontinence can be multifactorial, making a thorough assessment of contributing factors imperative. This is something that our Physiotherapist who is trained in pelvic floor muscle dysfunction can assist with.
